Nodal MZL
Histopathology:
- Partial preservation of nodal architecture
- Small to medium size, centrocyte like irregular cells, infiltrate intrafollicular region and sinus
- some of the cells shows plasmacytoid looks as well as with pale/clear cytoplasm
- Pale staining marginal zone cells surrounding the follicles
Points of Pathoclinics:
- Always search for the extra nodal involvement, as it is commonly seen in 50% of cases
- Marginal zone cells/tumor cells are BCL2 + while reactive follicles are BCL2 – in nodal MZL, important in differentiation from follicular lymphoma
- CD5,CD10 and CD23 all –
- Reactive lymph node in case of Toxoplasmosis or HIV is very close in differentials.
